About 3Dstackers: 20 Years of Mastery
The Vision: Engineered for the Real World
Design that lasts. Prints that do not warp. A studio built on precision.
I am Chen Zhangkai, and I founded 3Dstackers because I was tired of seeing 3D prints that looked incredible on a screen but failed the moment they met the real world, especially in the Singapore heat.
3Dstackers is the culmination of two decades of expertise. My journey began as an ITE Bedok Pioneer in Digital Media Design and evolved through local animation studios, contributing to global IPs such as Disney Junior and Nickelodeon. This commitment to vocational mastery was formally recognised by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in the 2015 National Day Rally.
Today, I apply those same rigorous standards of precision to physical manufacturing. We do not just print models: we engineer high-performance solutions with a core commitment to zero-waste sustainability.
The Journey from Screen to Studio
My background is rooted in professional production, not hobbyist printing. As a DigiPen Institute of Technology graduate (BFA in Digital Art and Animation) and an SIT Scholar, I have always had a mind for the "nuts and bolts" of the creative process.
Before establishing my own studio, I served as a Management Executive at the Ministry of Education (MOE), leading end-to-end 3D pipelines for national science curricula. During my tenure, I modernised our workflows by integrating advanced AI tools and refined procurement processes to reduce costs by 70%.
I bring that exact same blend of strategic efficiency, modern technology, and technical rigour to every project I take on at 3Dstackers.
The 3Dstackers Edge: Why We Do Things Differently
Most shops use brittle plastics like PLA because they are easy to work with. We do not. In our tropical climate, a 3D print should not warp just because it was left in a car.
AI-Accelerated Design
While our physical prints are built to be tough, our digital workflow is built for speed. I leverage AI platforms to accelerate conceptualisation, allowing us to turn raw ideas into printable 3D meshes faster than traditional studios.
Zero-Waste Technology
Utilising our Bambu Lab H2C systems, we have calibrated our workflow to eliminate the "plastic purge" waste typical of multi-colour printing. It is better for the environment and better for the build.
Indestructible by Design
I spend countless hours in R&D, obsessing over slicer settings and layer logic. Whether it is our transparent stencils or a spinning top with 100% infill for a perfect centre-of-mass, we build things to be effectively indestructible for normal use.
The PETG Standard
We exclusively use high-performance PETG for all our products. It is stable up to 80°C, meaning it is "Singapore Sun Certified".
Sharing the Maker Mindset
I have always loved teaching, from volunteering on handicraft projects abroad to providing professional technical training at the MOE. We are currently preparing to launch a series of 3D Printing Workshops across Singapore.
My goal is to show both children and adults that they do not have to be just "consumers": they can be "makers" who know how to solve problems with their own two hands.
Let’s Build Something Together!
3Dstackers is more than just a business: it is a commitment to quality. I am stacking my years of technical experience with a new vision for sustainable, high-quality manufacturing.
When you start with a solid foundation, your ideas really do stack up to the challenge, because we believe in doing things right from the very first layer.
